Why Tabuzo?
The term Tabuzo means "house" and comes from Grapiet which is a slang spoken in the upper Po valley, and in particular in Ostana. Its origins are unclear, and it is probably the result of Occitan, French and Provençal influences and the various immigrants who passed through these borderlands. What is clear is the practical function: not making yourself understood by others. It is crucial when you have to negotiate in secret, make uncomfortable jokes, or get out of a difficult situation.
Its use, like that of Occitan, is decreasing drastically. With this small tribute we hope to contribute to awareness of these centuries-old cultures and everything they represent for the community and the territory.
Regarding this attempt to update Occitan, the Chambra d'Oc and Lou Dalfin projects should be mentioned, which we invite you to discover.
